Area Modern Home and Lighting expanded its Downtown showroom at 515 S. Elm Street in April 2011 to include an additional loft space. The store, established in 2000, now offers shoppers 6,500 square feet of affordable, modern home furnishings and accessories. Designer Mark Hewett's store creates custom furniture and works with local manufacturers on modern designs. Furniture is produced locally and can be shipped within two weeks of order in a variety of fabrics. Area carries furniture from well-known manufacturers such as Calligaris, Blue Dot Gus and Pablo Lighting, as well as in-house designs. Appointments are also recommended for furniture consultations.
